Here's a simple recipe for an organic magnesium lotion that you can make at home. This lotion is great for easing muscle tension, promoting relaxation, and supporting overall wellness.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup magnesium chloride flakes
- ½ cup distilled water
- ¼ cup organic coconut oil
- ¼ cup organic shea butter
- 2 tablespoons beeswax pellets
- 10-15 drops of essential oil (e.g., lavender, eucalyptus, or peppermint)
- 1 tablespoon of organic aloe vera gel (optional, for added soothing properties)
Instructions:
1. Make the Magnesium Oil:
- In a small pot, heat the distilled water until warm (not boiling).
- Add the magnesium chloride flakes to the water and stir until dissolved.
- Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. Set aside.
2. Prepare the Lotion Base:
- In a double boiler, combine the coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax pellets.
- Heat the mixture gently, stirring occasionally, until everything is completely melted and well combined.
- Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly, but not to the point where it starts to solidify.
3. Combine the Ingredients:
- Slowly add the magnesium oil to the melted oils, whisking continuously until fully combined.
- Add the essential oils and aloe vera gel (if using), and continue to whisk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
4. Cool and Store:
- Pour the lotion into a glass jar or a lotion dispenser.
- Allow it to cool completely before sealing.
- Store in a cool, dark place. The lotion should last for about 3-6 months.
Usage:
- Apply a small amount of the lotion to your skin, particularly on areas where you experience muscle tension or cramps.
- Magnesium is best absorbed through the skin, making this lotion a great way to increase your magnesium levels naturally.
